About Us
Thuto Lesedi Foundation was founded in 2004 in Mokopane, in Limpopo Province, by Karabo Mothoa and a group of young people. When Karabo shared his concept with these young people, to start an education movement that was geared towards children and youth in rural areas, they all became excited and ran with the idea.
Where does it come from?
Twenty years later, the foundation is now headquartered in Pretoria, in Gauteng Province, and has a national footprint on its horizon. Thuto Lesedi Foundation was registered as non-profit organisation with the Department of Social Development in 2005 and as a non-profit company with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission of South Africa in 2024.

Nelson Mandela
Former President of South africa
Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that the son of a mine worker can become the head of the mine; that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation.
